Lovely accomodation in a beautiful setting.

The cottage was lovely, providing everything you could possibly need. The views were beautiful and the pool was open from arrival to departure. We swam at night for most of our stay and Chris, the owner, was more than happy to put on the pool lights whenever we wanted. Everything was clean and well looked after. Although the owners lived next door, we had privacy during our stay. Chris provided a brilliant information book which suggested places to eat and visit as well as everything we needed to know about the accomodation. The kitchen was well equipped and we even had matches, washing up liquid, salt/pepper, candles and wiping clothes (very unusual). We will definitely recommend the cottage to our friends and return ourselves.

Honeymoon heaven!

My husband and I have just returned from our honeymoon at La Ferme de la Tour, and we are already planning when to go back. We stayed in La Fournil, the one bedroom gite, and it was heaven! The gite was spotlessly clean and contained absolutely everything we needed for a wonderful weeks break. We had our own terrace looking out across the rolling countryside where we enjoyed sitting watching the sun go down. La Ferme is situated in beautiful grounds, and we were delighted to meet the chickens and Chris and Kate's friendly dog toffee.
We were able to socialise with the other families staying at La Ferme, or at other times keep our selves to our selves thanks to high level of privacy between each gite. The grounds and the pool were immaculately maintained, and the wifi was extremely easy to use and reliable. It was also a nice surprise when we turned the TV on to discover we could receive English Sky TV!
We found Chris and Kate and their family to be really helpful and friendly. There always seemed to be someone on site which was reassuring. Their recommendations were extremely useful as we were new to the area, and we enjoyed visiting the restaurants they suggested.
At the end of the week it was easy to dispose of our rubbish and bottles as the bins were on the road a short distance from La Ferme.
We had an unforgettable honeymoon in the Dordogne and staying at La ferme was a huge part of that. It was such a pleasure coming back after busy days out to the quiet tranquility of this stunning place. We'll be back..

Perfect base for a perfect Dordgne holiday

Myself, my wife and 2 boys had a great stay in La Grange. Everything about the accommodation was perfect from the cleanliness, suitability for families and great facilities to the little touches like binoculars for taking in the breathtaking scenery to a chilled bottle of Rose in the fridge when we got there (which was very welcome after an 11 hour drive from Calais!!) to turning on the pool lights late one night so we could have a late swim on a very hot day. Chris and Kate clearly spend a lot of time keeping the accommodation to its high standard and the recommendations in the handbook for places to visit etc were always spot on.
A well appointed great place to stay that we would recommend to anyone and with the fantastic views of the valley you won't want to leave!! We'll be back!

La Grange ,An outstanding conversion

A long journey from Tours was rewarded with my satnav letting me down, Chris does supply detailed instructions, but I trusted technology. A brief 'phonecall, to Chris, got us there in a couple of minutes. The sight of Chris clutching his red folder might be off putting after a long day on the road, but fear not, he leads you swiftly through an introduction to the property and after giving you a welcome bottle of wine he leaves you to it. The red book proved invaluable as it gives brief details of places you might wish to visit beyond nearby Sarlat.
The property itself has a split level living area which gives the lounge a double height and enhances the airy spacious feel. The furniture is comfortable with a sofa and 2 tub, club, chairs. The conversion has been carried out with a view to UK guests so the fittings are of a good standard and reflect the expectations of UK based travellers , there is none of the quirky mish mash of fittings and furnishings. that can often be found in a french gite . The kitchen is well equipped with a washing machine and a very effective fridge, a dishwasher would be good, but that would probably mean losing the full sized gas oven. The bedrooms are in the roof space and benefit from exposed beams that are both rustic and evocative of its former use as a cow byre. The large shower room benefits from the chestnut flooring found throughout the first floor.

Outside you have large courtyard that is not overlooked by other guests, but you can be friendly with fellow guests if you so wish. The views south are inspiring as is the well kept swimming pool, we were so busy we never made it there, and the weather was unseasonably wet, but the loungers looked so inviting. The large , well mown field/lawn has plenty of space for children to run around and the pool is safely fenced off too.

The property is very well situated, just a few minutes from Sarlat and the main , well established tourist sites, but let your satnav do the work and you will be rewarded with trips down empty lanes, through dappled woods and along roads bordered with edges , and fields, of the most beautiful wild flowers.

I would recommend the accommodation as a base for exploring the classic Dordogne but also as a quiet, very comfortable, get away from it all. You can go for long walks straight from the door, you pay your money and make your choice. The log burner would be magnificent in the autumn, now there's a thought.

Just returned from a great week at La petite Grange. Lovely accommodation, clean, well equipped just right for the two of us. Had a stressful journey to get there so it was very welcome to see 6 bottles of wine waiting for us on arrival - thanks folks!!! Perfect location, very peaceful but close enough to Sarlat and sights. Owners were always on hand but never intrusive. Lots of info in the useful pack that was in the property. All in all a perfect location for a vacation - would not hesitate to return to visit all the sights we did not get to.

We have just returned from two weeks in The Cottage and had such a fantastic time that on our last day we booked again for a three-week stay next June. We love the Dordogne and have had several very enjoyable holidays in the area but finding this place has really put the icing on the cake!. It is fabulous, the accommodation is extremely clean and comfortable and is very well equipped, the private outside area is perfect for sitting out and for eating, with a beautifully scented honeysuckle and a lovely shady Indian Bean tree. The lawned area is huge and well maintained and the pool is lovely with ample loungers and umbrellas for everyone staying.
However what really sets La Ferme de la Tour apart are the superb views, mile upon mile of the most glorious countryside which can be appreciated and enjoyed not only from outside but also from the living room of The Cottage and, more particularly, from the bedroom. it was amazing to wake up to such an incredibly stunning and picturesque view, especially on a lovely sunny morning.
We do a lot of walking and there are so many great walking routes right on the doorstep we were spoiled for choice, although it was also most tempting to stay put and take advantage of the peace and quiet or cool down in the pool which also benefits from the pretty views.
Chris and Kate the owners are so friendly and helpful, the information and recommendations provided are very useful and they are justifiably proud of the amazing work they have carried out at the property since buying 15 years ago, including renovating the existing farmhouse accommodation and converting two barns. Chris showed us round the other gites and it is clear that all the work has been done very sympathetically and to a really high standard, there are lovely touches and well thought out individual features throughout.
We are so glad we chose to holiday here and cannot wait to go back!

Sue Whiles,

Absolutely delightful holiday accommodation. We stayed one week late June, it is a truly beautiful part of France, made even better by the standard of the le Fournil gite. The owners Chris & Kate Waters could not have been kinder. It is a bit of a trek up from the car park to le Fournil with a heavy suitcase. The infirm and disabled might struggle. This is not a complaint merely an observation. We highly recommend la Ferme de la Tour.

John & Angela Hulme,

This was our third stay at Chris and Kates accomodation, twice in The Cottage and this time in Le Fournil. Again excellent. Modern very clean accomadation, stunning views and very peaceful. We took advatage of the walks and other places of interest in their red folder and then returned to the lovely swimming pool. After that was a lovely evening on the balcony with a bbq and bottle of wine. Thanks Chris and Kate.

We greatly enjoyed our week at La Petite Grange. The accommodation was attractive, immaculately presented and well equipped.
The location is perfectly situated both as a base for sightseeing in an area with much to see, and for just lazing and enjoying the wonderful view and the pool. It is in a peaceful spot surrounded by beautiful countryside with walks from the front door.

Val and Andy Fuller,

We've just spent two weeks in Le Fournil and would highly recommend it for a couple looking for a well appointed Gite. Chris and Kate are very helpful and unobtrusive hosts. The pool is great and the views from our terrace stunning. Watching the balloons rise over the Dordogne in the evening was magical.
Would we come back? Yes, in a flash, it's a wonderful spot with lots to do in the surrounding countryside.

My wife and I stayed in The Cottage with her brother and sister in law in June 2014. As all the reviews state, the premise was very clean, well maintained and in a beautiful position. The swimming pool was welcome after a great day out exploring the region, followed by a bottle of wine and BBQ. Chris and Kate were always very helpful but never intrusive. On our return we told our friends about the location and within a few weeks rebooked The Cottage with them for 2015, can't wait.
